Wright Kids again tonight
Tonight (9/9), young bluegrassers The Wright Kids take the stage of NBC’s America’s Got Talent to try and pick and sing their way into the show’s Top 10 finalists. Winners are chosen each week by audience vote, and the kids made it through the prior round thanks to viewers who voted online and by phone following their August 27 performance.
The Wrights came into early auditions as a three-piece bluegrass group, but the show’s musical director has chosen to move them from their comfort zone and have them sing pop songs on the show, complete with a full rhythm section, brass and backing vocalists. Still, they appear with their mandolin, guitar and (tiny) upright bass, and have won the hearts of the judges – and apparently many of the show’s viewers as well.
Here is a clip of the 8/27 program, with The Wright Kids doing an arrangement of Daydream Believer.

Ten votes online and/or by phone will be counted by each user. The phone number to call for each contestant is displayed when they perform, and again at the show’s conclusion. Phone votes will be accepted for two hours after the show goes off in each time zone.
