WPAQ now streaming online

WPAQ 740 AMWPAQ AM 740 in Mount Airy, NC has a long history in bluegrass music. Since 1948, they have broadcast a mix of old time, bluegrass and Gospel music along with Christian programming to folks in northwestern North Carolina.

Though they have hewn to these same musical traditions through the years, they have until now not been a part of the Internet revolution, having no web site or online presence.

In what will be welcomed as great news for students of the history of bluegrass and old time music all over the world, the WPAQ radio signal is now being streamed online from 6:00 a.m. until sundown, eastern US time.

The audio stream is available in a 32 KB Windows Media format from their web site, and a higher fidelity stream with unlimited connections is available with the installation of a free plug in.

The programming schedule can also be found on the new WPAQ740.com web site.

We say “Welcome to the Internet!” to a true pioneer in broadcasting traditional mountain, old time, bluegrass and Gospel music.
