The Greencards

I heard a very interesting bluegrass band with members from Australia and the UK called The Greencards on the Mar. 23 Grand Ole Opry that really made an impression on me.  They were introduced as having the #1 selling CD on Billboard’s bluegrass chart that week, but started their set with a Slim Dusty Australian bush ballad. Then they kicked it into high gear with an original yet very traditional-sounding bluegrass tune called “Lonesome Side of Town.” I found that song again on http://www.MySpace.com/TheGreencards. I recommend giving it a listen.

Anyway, I also saw that they are just beginning a spring tour of the Eastern US starting with the Ram’s Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD on April 10. I am going to wait until Monday, April 16 when they come to Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA (which is much closer to where I live) before heading up to MA, CT and NYC. You can check out the other dates/cities on MySpace.
