Marty Raybon, Kati Penn online today

Kati Penn - My Turn To CryHere are a couple of good choices for online listening for Friday, January 9.

At noon, The Kati Penn Band will perform live on Blue Plate Special, broadcast from The Square Room in Knoxville, TN on WDVX.

They will perform material from her latest CD, My Turn To Cry. Joining Kati will be her touring band, which features CJ Cain on guitar, Jimmy Redden on banjo, Jame Kee on mandolin, Terry Poirer on bass and Penn on fiddle and vocals.

The WDVX is available over the air at 89.9 FM, and via audio streaming online.

RB Morris will also appear on the show.

Marty RaybonThen at 1:00 p.m., Marty Raybon will join Gracie Muldoon on WorldWideBluegrass.com for a discussion about his new CD, This That and the Other, and the band’s tour in support which begins in February.

Terry Poirier to Kati Penn Band

Terry PoirierThe Kati Penn Band has announced the addition of Terry Poirier on string bass and vocals.

Terry is a native of New Brunswick, Canada and lives now in Lexington, KY. He has performed in a number of bands and worked in sound reinforcement recent years, and also hosts a twice-weekly radio show on WorldWideBluegrass.com.

Jay Armsworthy show on WWB

Jay ArmsworthyWorldWideBluegrass.com has announced a new show hosted by Jay Armsworthy, a popular radio host and bluegrass singer in Maryland.

His show, Bluegrass On The Bay, debuts tonight (11/26) at 6:00 p.m. and will air every Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00.

Jay has hosted a show by this name on terrestrial radio in Pennsylvania for many years on AM1510 WWSM, and is looking forward to broadcasting live weekly on WWB as well.

Friday interviews online

It must be Women In Bluegrass Friday this week – at least in online radio streams. We found two interviews scheduled for 11/14 with prominent female artists, and noted female radio hosts.

April VerchFirst up is fiddler April Verch who be a guest of Carol Beaugard on WFDU’s Lonesome Pine RFD at 11:00 a.m.

She’ll be talking about her latest CD, Steal The Blue, which features her on both fiddle and lead vocals on a musical melange of French Canadian, Appalachian, Bluegrass, and Celtic influences.

WFDU airs on 89.1 FM in the NYC area, and is streamed live online at WFDU.fm. Carol’s show is also recorded for rebroadcast at a later date on WAMU’s Bluegrass Country.

Sandy CherryholmesAt 1:00 p.m., Sandy Cherryholmes with join Gracie Muldoon on WorldWideBluegrass.com to talk about the new Cherryholmes project, Cherryholmes III – Don’t Believe.
