Jim Van Cleve and Aaron Ramsey at StonehengeMountain Heart is in England this weekend, where they performed at the Didmarton Festival in Gloucestershire. Before the fest, however, the boys were able to get in a bit of sightseeing, and sent along these photos from Stonehenge.

Bass man Jason Moore said that he has a ton of pictures, but that his internet connection has been sporadic, so he will send more when he gets back home on Monday. Bon Voyage, fellas!

Graham VanCleve revealed

Graham David Van CleveWe posted on July 21 about the birth of Graham David Van Cleve, second child of Mountain Heart fiddler Jim Van Cleve and his lovely wife, Desneige.

His dad had been tardy in getting us a photo, but here is little Graham at long last. What a cutie!

Jim says that he will be out this weekend filling in with NewFound Road, so if you see him at the Allen Family Jubilee in Proctorville, OH, you can congratulate him in person.

Another new picker

Jim Van Cleve tells us that he and his wife Desneige have welcomed their son, Graham David Van Cleve, into the world. He was born at 6:23 p.m. (EDT) today (7/21).

He came in at 8 lbs. 13 1/2 oz., stretching out to 19 1/2 inches, and will join mom, dad and big sister Ryann at home soon. We’ll post a photo as soon as Jim has a spare moment to send one along.

Congratulations Van Cleves!

Mountain Heart at Mohegan Sun

mohegan.jpgThe Mohegan Sun is a gaming and resort facility in southeastern Connecticut. Just north of New London, run by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, it makes for a convenient playground for folks in Boston, Providence and New York City.

Their entertainment lineup this summer includes some of the top names in pop music, all a part of their Hot Summer Fun Series. Acts scheduled to appear include Beyonc?©, Stone Temple Pilots, Montgomery Gentry… and Mountain Heart!

Needless to say, they are the only bluegrass act in the series, and they managed to get high profile billing in the casino’s show poster. Nine performers grace the poster, and Mountain Heart made the cut over such established acts as Abba, Three Dog Night and Edgar Winter.

Fiddler Jim VanCleve is understandably excited about the promotion…

“Thanks to our manager and his magic-working, we have been able to score PRIME placement in all their advertising… over top of several VERY well-known and established acts. The flier is absolutely awesome.

It’s an incredible opportunity and we’re real stoked about it.”

They will perform at the casino on July 15 in a free concert, so if you crap out at the tables, you can still make the show.
