The New Jersey based group Straight Drive has released its first band CD on Cabinwood Music. The CD has been receiving airplay throughout the US and abroad.

Straight Drive has been performing for four years and has played many Bluegrass festivals, theaters, and live radio shows. Most recently the band just returned from a month-long engagement on the Mississippi Queen steamboat where they participated in the Bluegrass Jamboree cruise which also featured The Whites and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.

The band is made up of Jen Larson singing lead vocals and playing guitar, Vic D’Amico on mandolin and vocals, Ron Feinberg on fiddle, Jim Treat on bass, and Terry McGill on banjo and vocals. Helping out on this recording was Tom Gamberzky who played both standard and sock rhythm guitar.

Jen has been featured on “The Prairie Home Companion” radio show this past year [Editor's Note: you can listen to that show here], and she has also written the title track and “The Lonely Hearts Waltz” on this recording. Terry McGill has been featured in The Banjo Newsletter and is currently anticipating the release of an instruction manual, “The Five String Banjo Played in Alternate Tunings”, published by Mel Bay Publications. Vic has been a presence on the Bluegrass scene in the Northeastern United States for over 30 years. Ron played with the Fox Family and was on their IBMA-nominated album. Jim Treat engineered most of this recording.
