Steve Martin: The Crow
We’ve already told you about Steve Martin’s upcoming CD, The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo. Now we’ve learned that the CD is set for a January 27, 2009 release, exclusively on Amazon.com for the first 90 days. It is currently available for pre-order.
Yesterday USA Today ran a short piece in their Music section highlighting Martin and his upcoming CD.
The CD contains 14 originals written by Martin, as well as a Clawhammer Medley. The recording features a number of big names in the entertainment world.
Vince Gill and Dolly Parton share vocals on Pretty Flowers. Mary Black sings on Calico Train. Actor Eugene Levy plays guitar on Tin Roof, and Earl Scruggs appears on Daddy Played the Banjo.
The paper adds the news that Martin will “unveil” some of the songs from the CD on January 31 as he hosts Saturday Night Live. We’ll be looking forward to that.
