SPBGMA!!

Hey I’ve been surprised about the lack of mention about SPBGMA happening here in Nashville this weekend.  For those who don’t know, it’s a good sized indoor festival featuring some of the best bluegrass in the more traditional vein.  There’s also plenty of jamming to be had, as one will notice as soon as they walk in the lobby.  Also jams can be found in lobby and in the many hallways, so walk around and see what you can discover!  It’s held at the Music City Sheraton at 777 McGavock Pike Nashville, TN 37214.  Anyone bluegrass fans in and around middle Tennessee will definitely want to check this out.  Also, my band, the Farewell Drifters will be playing around there tonight and tomorrow so stop by, have a listen, and let us know you’re from the bluegrass blog!

My husband and I attended SPBGMA in Nashville. This in one of our favorite events. The price is reasonable, and there are many affordable hotels in the area. We enjoyed seeing the Daughters of Bluegrass, the Grancals, Cherryholmes, Randy Waller and the Country Gentlemen, and MANY MANY others.
We were especially thrilled to see Alicia Nugent win Tranditional Female Vocalist of the Year! And the contest for amateurs is a lot of fun — ok I admit it, we don’t watch the preliminaries, just the finals on Sunday afternoon. This is our fifth year to attend — the only problem with the whole thing is the host hotel doesn’t have enough parking.
