Some names in the entertainment world are big enough that no last name is required for people to know who is being referenced.

In our bluegrass world, when you hear “Rhonda,” you don’t have to hear “Vincent” to know which Rhonda is under discussion. Perhaps no name in the world is so immediately recognizable as Oprah, whose televisions programs so dominate the daytime market.

Put the two together, and whoa Nellie!

Rhonda is profiled in the current (September ‘09) issue of Oprah’s O Magazine, along with a number of other familiar artists in a piece called Belles of Bluegrass by Scott Frampton. It appears on page 44 of the new issue, with the sub head “New albums from talented upstarts–plus one grand dame–find fresh inspiration in a classic American style.”

It offers brief reviews of Rhonda’s new CD, plus three other young female acts, described thusly in the article:
