Own Ron Stewart’s French fiddle
Now that Ron Stewart is playing banjo with The Dan Tyminski Band, he is parting ways with his prized French fiddle that had been his main axe this past ten years or so. It is a Francois Guillmont French Violin which he used on recordings by Ronnie Bowman, Lynn Morris, Rhonda Vincent, JD Crowe, BlueRidge and Ron’s solo project on Rounder, Time Stands Still.
The fiddle is listed as a no-reserve sale on ebay, and Ron says that he is selling it to ensure that it is being played on a regular basis now that he isn’t using a fiddle as often.
I am selling it because it needs to be played! It is a cannon, and someone needs to be playing it daily!
Check it out on ebay.

I hope the person who bought Ron’s fiddle loves it. I’ve got a Guillmont (classical orchestral use) and like Ron says, it is mega-loud. The funny thing is though, they ain’t French! They were made in Germany, around 1900 and come from the workshop of ER Schmidt. They were just made to look French, and given a made-up French name. If you are looking out to buy a fiddle, for any type of use, I’d certainly go for a Guillmont!
I do love this fiddle, but I have to put it back on the market — purely financial reasons. It’s a wonderful instrument, and it should be in the hands of a good professional player. fowlerdnmi@gmail.com for information.
