Michael Cleveland swings it solid
Everybody in the bluegrass world knows what a monster fiddler Michael Cleveland is, but it seems that he impressed some gypsy jazz folks this past weekend as well.
Michael and Flamekeeper were in Butte, MT performing at the National Folk Festival (7/11), and afterwards Dan Samuels, who is the percussionist in Funky Friday (a funk/hip hop group in Baltimore), found him in a jam in his hotel lobby.
Dan captured some hand-held video of Michael jamming with a group of swing players on Sweet Georgia Brown. He posted just this one song, but said that the jam went on for several hours.
Enjoy.
Tony Ballog is the fiddler facing the camera, and the band is his group, Roma Nota, who was also on Sunday’s bill at the festival.
