Lluis Gomez Quartet

Lluis Gomez QuartetAnother CD we received recently came from Spanish banjoist Lluis G??mez. His new project is entitled Quartet, taken from the name of his group, and features 10 instrumental tracks, most of them Gomez compositions.

He is joined by the members of his Quartet, Joan Paul Comellas on harmonica, Ricky Araiza on guitar on bass, and Maribel S?°nchez on bass. The music is modern but quite lyrical and original. Influences from the early music of Tony Trischka and Russ Barenberg are evident, along with touches of Celtic, bluegrass and Dawg music.

Audio samples are available on CD Baby and MySpace.

We've commented a number of times about the fertile acoustic string music scene in and around Boston, MA. One interesting...
