Live at the Awards Show – with photos
Just a quick reminder about tonight’s (10/1) International Bluegrass Music Awards, and our live coverage on The Bluegrass Blog.
Brance and I will be in the press gallery at The Ryman Auditorium, announcing the winners here live as they are announced on stage. Dean Hoffmeyer will also be shooting photos during the show, which we will posting as we get them while the show proceeds.
The show should be a whopper, opening with Lonesome River Band and their version of Them Blues.
If you can’t be here in Nashville, or at The Ryman tonight, be sure to join us online starting at 7:30 (CDT). Don’t be late!!
In addition, we will be shooting Red Carpet interviews with the nominees before the show, which will be posted as soon as possible, probably sometime this weekend. Katy Daley (the 2009 IBMA Bluegrass Broadcaster of the Year!) and Doug McKelway of WJLA in Washington will be our hosts.

Be sure to have your eyes glued to your screen tonight as Brance and I live blog the awards show here...
Be sure to join us on The Bluegrass Blog for our live blog coverage of the 2009 International Bluegrass...
Still catching up on IBMA reports and impressions...
Our Thursday started with a Sam Bush interview,...
Here is a gallery of photos from last night's (9/29) IBMA festivities.
We are very fortunate this...

As has been the case for the past several years, I am appreciative and excited about the live coverage of the awards show! However, I am VERY concerned that the site will once again not be prepared to withstand the load, especially given the excessively slow response times we are already seeing 5.5 hours before the show even begins.
In fairness, it appears to be third-party affiliates and ads which are slowing the page load time, but I fear that if it is this bad already, by show time it will be unusable.
I know John and Brace (And Casey and Dean!) are working hard at the show, so I am hopeful there is someone back at home base who might read this and be able to check on the performance issues prior to tonights activities.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
A.J.
Not to be a pest (too late… I Know), but in the interest of helping to identify the cause, it appears that “dl.specificclick.net” and “bid.operix.net” are the two biggest culprits in the slow load time issues I am experiencing.
Also, I have tried from several different service provider networks (OARnet, Buckeye Express, Time-Warner – one advantage of working in a co-located environment, I guess), and am seeing similar performance issues from all three separate upstream feeds.
I promise I will be quiet now!
A.J.
Not to worry. Page reloads will not be required this year.
The announcements will be updated using Ajaxy goodness…
