The International Bluegrass Music Museum is announcing a new program it’s calling the Kentucky Bluegrass Allstars Lesson Program. The program offers instruction on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and banjo. The lesson are held at the Bluegrass Museum in Owensboro, KY.

Assistant Director of the museum, Mike Lawing, commented on the progam:

To see all these people young and old learning music, bluegrass music, together as a community is so fulfilling. The lessons also create the opportunity for people to come into the museum, meet the staff, watch the movies, buy some music and enjoy what we are trying to do in our mission; provide an environment to discover the richness of bluegrass music through an exciting and educational experience.

An enhanced version of a similar program offerring lessons in the past, this new program features these differences.

For the past two seasons the lessons program has been totally free, this year enrollment is $60. The price is the same whether you have your own instrument or need to borrow one from the museum.

In addition to lesson for beginners, the program now offers intermediate classes for students who have previously participated and are ready for more advanced instruction.

All students are now given membership to the International Bluegrass Music Museum. The hope is that they will stay informed and become involved in many of the other ongoing projects the museum is involved with.

Group lessons are taught every other Saturday from 11-11-06 to 6-23-07. In addition to museum membership, all students are given photocopied instructional materials as needed, a Kentucky Bluegrass AllStars t-shirt, two 4-day passes to ROMP, 1 museum bumper sticker, and two free guest passes to the museum.

At the end of the season, the students will perfrom as a group at ROMP on June 23, 2007.
