Get Along Girl - Casey and Chris Henry

get along girlWe just heard from Casey and Chris Henry that their new CD, Get Along Girl, is to be released May 7th, 2006 on Arrandem Records. The CD features a total of thirteen tracks, eight of which were written by Casey and Chris. Their band, The Two Stringers, consists of Casey on banjo, Chris on mandolin, and Tyler Grant on guitar.

Here are a few words from Casey.

Audio clips from all the songs are up on our site twostringers.com. The CD has a lot of original material–Chris wrote seven of the songs, I wrote one. It will be available to order through our website and, of course, at personal appearances.

Here’s the full press release:

Casey and Chris and the Two-Stringers announce the May 7 release of their new Arrandem Records CD, “Get Along Girl.” The album features thirteen tracks, eight of which are original compositions. Other contributing writers include Sally Jones, Chris Brashear, and Nancy Pate. The Nashville-based Two-Stringers are siblings Casey and Chris Henry on banjo and mandolin respectively, and Tyler Grant on guitar. Guesting on the CD are Missy Raines on bass and Shad Cobb on fiddle.

Both in their mid-twenties, Casey and Chris Henry played for years in a family band with their parents Red and Murphy Henry. Beginning last year they teamed to create their unique brand of traditional bluegrass. Casey is earning notice for her powerful banjo picking, which is strongly Scruggs and Crowe influenced. Chris is the top Monroe stylist of his generation. The most exciting element of their sound is Chris”s songwriting. His songs hearken back to the early days of bluegrass while sounding fresh and personal. The combination of their talents results in a distinctive edge to their music, different from anything on bluegrass radio today.

This summer will find the Two-Stringers at festivals up and down the east coast. Appearances include Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival in Pennsylvania.; Bluegrass in the Blueridge in Luray, Va.; a Delta Queen Riverboat cruise; Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival; and Sertoma Youth Ranch in Dade City, Fla. Mid-2006 will see the release of Chris”s solo project, “Monroe Approved,” on Arrandem Records.
