Farewell, Tater Tate
Clarence “Tater” Tate, a long-time member of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys and Lester Flatt’s Nashville Grass, passed away on Wednesday. Tater had been battling lung cancer for some time, and will be fondly remembered as long as people play bluegrass music.
In his later years, he served as an instructor in the bluegrass music program at East Tennessee State University. How fortunate for his students to have had a brief glimpse of his wisdom.
