An official statement is expected today from Earl Scruggs’ management concerning his health and current condition following a fall in Myrtle Beach a week ago. We will release it here as soon as we receive it.

In researching this over the past few days we have been able to determine from people who were with him in Myrtle Beach, and who have seen and spoken with him since, that he is feeling well and in good spirits after a harrowing week. Mrs. Scruggs (Louise) has also been hospitalized with back problems of late.

Rather than speculate with second hand info, we’ll wait and pass along the official statement later today.

UPDATE (3:30 p.m. 12/05): We are told that the statement will be available late on Monday, or even early on Tuesday, and that it will be “good news.”

UPDATE (9:00 a.m. 12/07): Still no sign of the official statement from Earl’s management, though it has been promised again for today.
