Dusters wrap up new recording

The Infamous Stringdusters - Travis Book, Jesse Cobb, Andy Falco, Andy Hall, Jeremy garrett, Chris Pandolfi; photo by Jim McGuireThe Infamous Stringdusters have finished up recording for their second Sugar Hill release, due on June 10.

It’s always tough for a successful touring act to complete a new project, and the ‘Dusters have been at this one since August of last year.

They finally finished on January 24 and head back out on February 2 to their busy schedule, which includes a tour of Germany in May.

We’ll be on the lookout for audio samples online, and let you know when we find some.

They recorded the 13+ songs live in the studio in 6 days, with 2 additional days for overdubs. Mixing has not been started yet, but the recording is done. Tim O’Brien produced it at Compass Records Studio, aka Outlaw Central. The same studio that Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Tompall, and others made famous for all of the outlaw recordings in the 1970’s. It was later owned by Ronnie Milsap. It still has that same vibe and not much has changed, but the gear. It’s all digital now.

Dave Sinko will handle the mixing sometime soon. It’s going to be a fantastic record of mostly original material than no one has heard outside of a handful of recent live performances a few weeeks back. There is a Danny Barnes cover that Travis Book sings that will hopefully make the final cut.

Nice work fellas!
