Donna Ulisse to play Bluegrass Underground with Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out!
This Saturday, May 9, 2009, I am looking forward to a unique musical experience. I will be heading to Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, TN to hear bluegrass music in a cave, 333 feet under the ground. I am told the acoustics are pretty incredible here; the best above or below the ground! Donna Ulisse and her band The Poor Mountain Boys will be kicking off the show at 1:00 p.m. on the Bluegrass Underground show with Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out closing the show. I have seen Ulisse’s show many times and never tire of hearing her perform and sing her original tunes off her bluegrass releases and am really looking forward to hearing IIIrd Tyme Out in person for the first time.
The Bluegrass Underground show is getting a lot of positive attention in the middle Tennessee area. It is an incredible undertaking for Todd Mayo, the show’s founder and is offering tremendous exposure for all of the bluegrass acts who perform on the show since the show is promoted heavily on WSM radio and is also streamed live on wsmonline and heard on WSM from 5-6 p.m. CST each Saturday evening before the Grand Ole Opry. It is also broadcast on Thunder Radio WMSR-AM in Tullahoma each Saturday at 2 p.m. I want this show to grow and continue to be successful because it is one more high visibility venue for bluegrass acts to play and that is good for bluegrass music! Ulisse will also be doing an in-studio performance and interview on WSM Radio on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. to promote the show which can also be heard on wsmonline.
The world famous Cumberland Caverns is located in the heart of Middle Tennessee, centrally located between Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville. The cave is just off of Highway 8, six miles southeast of McMinnville via 70-S, between Nashville and Knoxville, or via Highway 55 from I-24 at Manchester, between Nashville and Chattanooga.
Tickets are $15.00 per person and can be ordered online at www.bluegrassunderground.com where you’ll also find plenty of additional interesting information about the cave and show as well as upcoming acts.
