Bluegrass is becoming so diverse and it's about time. It's amazing what can be created by a few acoustic instruments. On Crooked Still's first record they covered some Monroe tunes and put a whole new light on them. Music should never remain stagnant but rather to blossom. It's exciting to see Crooked Still on the same bill as the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Ralph Stanley. It's refreshing. The old and new converging. That's my taste.

They played a festival I was at the other weekend. I sure hope this isn't the direction that bluegrass is headed. I have a hard time calling their set bluegrass. They are talented pickers for sure, but their music isn't my taste.
