Country Music television (CMT) will be sponsoring an open mic style Pickin’ Party on Saturday (10/29) from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Everyone in town for Fan Fest is invited to “come on down,” and free barbeque is offered to the first 350 folks who arrive with a Fan Fest armband.

Their stage will be set up at the corner of 5th Avenue North and Commerce Street and CMT asked us to make sure that everyone understood that they were invited to bring their instruments to jam. Bands who attend will be able to perform a short set, and one imagines that a certain amount of free form jamming will occur as well.

Let’s hope the weather allows this to be a fun event for everyone. We’re not sure at this point whether CMT News will cover this event or not, but there will be coverage on CMT.com, and the event is being heavily pitched to local media.
