Cedar Hill, 5 Star Cashbox Review

Just want to let all you folks know that Cedar Hill’s new CD “Poverty Row” has made this month’s CASHBOX magazines Top 25 Albums at number 18, and that’s just the first month. I am proud of their music and pleased to see their hard work recognized once again.

CEDAR HILL
Poverty Row

Hot Damn! What can I say after reviewing Rhonda Vincent, to find out she wrote the great line notes for Cedar Hill. This is fantastic bluegrass put together with some of the greatest names in this business, Tom T. Hall and Miss Dixie, Vince Gill, Molly Cherryholmes and the fantastic group that makes up Cedar Hill, Lisa Ray, Frank Ray, Joe Wieneman, Rob Collins, Kenny Cantrell, Ferrell Stowe and Bobby Minner. Straight from the Ozarks, Cedar Hill brings a refreshing and crisp sound of bluegrass to a new generation and all 12 tracks are gems. Standouts include “Poverty Row”, “Broken Angels” with Vince Gill and two great instrumentals “Whiskers In the Sink” and “Soldiers Joy” that goes back, way back to another century. Not a dud on this CD and it makes its debut on the Cashbox Bluegrass Charts. If it wasn’t for Rhonda taking up space at the top, this would surely go all the way.

I attended a show Saturday night, January 12th to hear them and here is what one of the NAB members wrote about it. I am very proud for them and I know they are happy about it.
From the The Northeast Arkansas Bluegrass Association:
“Wow! What a night Saturday night Jan. 12, 2008 was. This years 25th annual United Cerebral Palsy Bluegrass Benefit Show sponsored by the Northeast Arkansas Bluegrass Association was held in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the The Forum Auditorium. The line up this year featured “Cedar Hill”, along with The Keisler Brothers, Living Grace, Crowley’s Ridge Cloggers. They played to a near capacity crowd and did they ever get their money’s worth. All the groups were good. Cedar Hill stood the crowd on it’s ear. They played over an hour and played songs from their latest CD “Poverty Row”. After hearing them do the songs it is apparent why the new CD is receiving the rave reviews, and “Poverty Row” has made it’s way onto Nashville’s CASHBOX charts in the first month at #18. They are one of the most personable groups you will ever meet and folks, they flat play and sing Traditional Bluegrass Ozarks style. The crowd loved them and even after an hour plus concert the crowd was on their feet for at least a three minute Standing ovation. And BTW, the money raised at this years benefit was the most ever.”
