Bononia Grass #1 on OurStage.com

Bononia GrassBononia Grass, from Bologna in Italy, finished the month of March with the #1 video in the live performance category on OurStage.com, a social network-like site where fans vote on new music uploaded by independent artists.

Their street performance of Six Feet Under The Ground was chosen first among 482 entries, against competing videos in all different styles of music. Pretty impressive.

Banjo player Luca Naldi was succinct in his reaction…

“I’m really happy because we love to play bluegrass!!!”

Here’s their winning video.

Bononia Grass consists of Naldi on banjo, Giovanni Stefanini on mandolin, Luca Bartolini on guitar, Paolo Ercoli on resonator guitar and Pedro Judkowski on bass.

UPDATE 4/2: Luca Naldi tells us that even though Luca Bartolini is their regular guitarist, Giovanni Zordan is playing with them in this video.

Missy Raines & The New Hip: EP

Missy Raines is one of those musicians who seems to defy all the laws of both nature and logic. How can someone be that small, and that good on such a large instrument? Why would a bass player front a band? She is exemplary at both these tasks. Missy Raines & The New Hip is the name of that band...

    Internet radio

Up to this point, the discussion of the royalty situation on this blog has focused on Bluegrass music, which make sense, this is The Bluegrass Blog. May I suggest that the problem is not just ours. There are many other styles of music that are under represented in the mass media. There other 24...
