Bluegrass in the Pavilion Concert

The Flagler Museum welcomes two renowned Bluegrass groups, Dailey & Vincent and Grasstowne, to headline the fourth annual Bluegrass in The Pavilion concert on April 18, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 and all proceeds benefit the Southern Arts Federation’s emergency planning for cultural institutions.

The Flagler Museum continues to bring the best Bluegrass musicians to South Florida. Dailey & Vincent make their debut on the Pavilion stage after winning an unprecedented seven trophies at the 2008 International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, including Entertainer, Vocal Group, Emerging Artist and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year (for “By the Mark”). Their self-titled debut CD on Rounder Records went straight to the top of the Billboard bluegrass charts, where it remained for 35 weeks. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent have devoted their lives to bluegrass, to both the traditions and the possibilities that it offers, and now fans in South Florida will hear one of the most sensational Bluegrass band around.

The renowned Grasstowne will play at this year’s event with renditions of great American classics, and new favorites. Grasstowne was nominated for an unprecedented 10 awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) including Bluegrass Band of the Year. Group member Steve Gulley was already honored with the 2008 Song of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) for “Through The Window Of A Train.” The band is comprised of Phil Leadbetter, Steve Gulley, and Alan Bibey. Add to the mix two young and talented players; Jason Davis on banjo and Travis Greer on upright bass, and you have one of the hottest bluegrass band on tour today.
