Bill Monroe postal stamp
This post is another contribution from Richard Thompson, who has provided several special pieces to The Bluegrass Blog as we recall Bill Monroe today.
Today marks the point beyond which the US Postal Services can issue a commemorative stamp for Bill Monroe, there being a ten year embargo before honourees are posthumously recognised on this way. Although campaigners have been unsuccessful in their quest for the immediate issue of a stamp, why not join the campaign and write to the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee in support of the ongoing attempt to have Bill Monroe commemorated with the a stamp bearing his image.
