I knew him for many years, although I haven't had the opprtunity to have seen him in recent years. I was with the Wayne Yates and Co. band in the late 70's and early 80's, and played many shows in conjunction with Bill's band. Wayne used to tell me stories of the "good ol' days" with he and Bill Harrell, among others and the stories were always hilarious! ...Also, in the mid 80's, the group I played banjo in at that time, Special Blend, used to practice at Bill' house in Davidsonville, Md. He sure was one of a kind and always had a great sense of humor. He was a pleasure to have known and was a fine friend. We are sure gonna miss you. God bless.
