“Big Al” blog entry

. . .I took a look at his MySpace page. . .and under the listing for his favorite book(s) he entered “notta,” i.e. “nothing.”  The guy doesn’t READ for crying out loud?  This is the world we’re moving into, where ordinary folks don’t pick up a book in a blue moon. . .nothing personal, really, but I think it’s sad. . .(sigh). . .

I don’t know for sure about Al’s reading habits. I know I’ve at times set up a profile on a page such as MySpace and not taken the time to fill out everything, so maybe he just put “notta” in there to fill up space.

I do hear you though. I personally love to read and am usually devouring several books at once. My life has been so much richer for all the reading I’ve done. I can’t imagine not reading!

It does make me sad to watch young people today (am I still young at 36?) so caught up in video games, movies, the internet (here I am blogging, what hypocrisy!), etc, and not reading a single book.

What kind of people will these young people grow up to be? What kind of citizens? It’s a frightening thought…
