American Made Banjo Company

Amrican Made Banjo CompanyWe heard from Tom Mirisola with Kel Kroydon Banjos last week, and he told us that he has officially changed the name of his company to the American Made Banjo Company. They have just launched their new web site as well, with information and online ordering for the various products they offer.

Of course, that includes the Kel Kroydon banjos, inspired by the ornate, but relatively inexpensive banjos manufactured by Gibson in the 1930s for sale in mail order catalogs. The new ones built by American Made are tone ring banjos, and are offered either with or without the ivoroid, “mother of toilet seat” fingerboards which were such a prominent aspect of the originals.

We had posted previously about their cryogenically treated banjo strings, freeze-treated to extend their usable life. American Made is now offering cryogenically treated metal parts as well. Tom tells us that they have flanges, tension hoops and hooks/nuts made of brass, which are cryo-treated before plating.
